Summary: I have spent the past ten years both teaching and practicing in the field of Information Technology, Accounting, and Auditing. I have been employed in government, non-profit, private sector, and educational environments either as an employee or self employed as a consultant. My teaching experience consists of teaching Accounting and Information Technology and related topics. I am currently teaching online and developing online courses.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Teaching and Consulting (1996 - current)
Currently – teaching and consulting both online and face-to-face:
2002 - current Kaplan College – School of Technology and Design, and School of Business (Formerly - School of Information Technology & Business) – Faculty Member I teach, Accounting, Management, and core courses in a 100% online environment. I develop online courses.
SUNY Empire State College – Adjunct Teaching Accounting online
Orange CCC – Adjunct teaching IT face-to-face.
1999 - 2002 Ulster County Community College - Associate Professor of CIS,
I taught the Cisco Academy program at a Regional Cisco Academy. In addition to teaching the college's students I was the program coordinator and both train instructors for local academies and support local academies. I also developed and taught a Microsoft Windows 2000 curriculum.
1996 - 1999 Strayer University, teach Computer Information Systems both full-time and part-time
Initially, I taught part-time from 1996 - 1998 at three campuses and then I was recruited to teach full time and served as Department Chairman at the Loudoun campus 1998 - 1999. I taught the Microsoft Windows NT curriculum and some Novell 4.
Provide a variety of professional services as an independent contractor or employee. Engagements in the 1996-1998 include:
Quality Assurance for Accounting software (Windows 95 Application) development of a well-known publisher (BNA). In addition to the QA also set up and configure workstations (Windows 95 & NT) on the Novell network.
I provided Tax, Accounting, and Business Process Reengineering services for several local CPA firms as well as my own clients.
Government employment (1993-1995):
Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC), Office of Contractor Oversight and Surveillance (OCOS) Oversight Manager in the Review Branch, I planned and conducted government audits of RTC contractors assets through performing on-site reviews or monitoring and overseeing independent public accounting firms engaged to conduct financial, performance and compliance audits of such contractors. These audits had as their objectives the identification of Internal Control Weaknesses, Waste Fraud and Abuse, Questioned Costs, Potential Cost Recoveries and Savings, and Non-compliance with laws, regulations and contract provisions. All audits were performed under Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).
My prior experience consists of IT Auditing, serving as a professor in higher education and public accounting.
